Jack is an avid reader. Sometimes, he becomes exhausted from all of the reading, but after a brief nap, he's back at it. He's already begun his summer reading. His first book was A Dog's Purpose, by Bruce Cameron, which is not just another "dead dog" book. Of course, he loved it. One dog is followed through several lives with different owners. In the end, our dog hero discovers his purpose with people . This book would be appropriate for sixth, seventh or eigth grader readers who are dog lovers. Beware, there are parts that are very emotional, but Jack felt it was well worth the tears!

Orbis Pictus Award for Outstanding Nonfiction for Children
If your focus is nonfiction, the Orbis Pictus Award for Outstanding Nonfiction for Children is a great place to go to get the very best. Susan
Welcome
I'd like for you to see the pictures of Tammy Butterworth's classroom at Cherokee Middle School in Springfield, MO. The 6th and 7th grade teachers from Aurora School District were able to visit and see Tammy in action. She is a former Missouri Reading Inititative trainer who has gone back to the classroom this year to teach 7th grade communication arts. We loved the anchor charts that support student thinking throughout the year, the calm atmosphere, the coming forward for mini-lesson. Preview the pictures and let me know what you think! Susan
